WG1 is the testing and validation body of the Open Device Alliance. It translates ratified WG2 specifications into structured test methodologies, executes independent device validation, and publishes results that power the ODA Enabled certification program. WG1 is responsible for developing and administering the Alliance’s device testing and interoperability validation programs for end user devices within Enterprise Private Cellular Network deployment ecosystem. WG1 translates ratified WG2 technical specifications into structured test methodologies, executes independent device testing and validation, and publishes results that power the ODA Enabled certification program.
WG1 does not define device requirements — that is WG2’s role. WG1’s mandate is to operationalize those requirements into test cases, execute validation against real hardware, and produce transparent, auditable results that remove the burden of independent device qualification from every enterprise in the market.
WG1 translates each ratified WG2 specification into a test methodology, executes device validation, and publishes results to the ODA Device Registry.
WG2 defines the enterprise use case, charters a task group, and ratifies the technical requirements and normative specification.
View WG2 →WG3 reviews WG1 test results and issues the ODA Enabled designation — the publicly verifiable signal that a device meets the PCN-ready standard.
View WG3 →WG1 test suites are authored only after the corresponding WG2 specification has been ratified. The test suites below are in active preparation, tracking the three WG2 Task Groups nearest to ratification.
WG1 is actively building its testing and validation network. Academic researchers, university wireless labs, and independent testing organizations are encouraged to express interest in participating in ODA device validation. Selected partners will be engaged as we build the future implementation standards for Private Cellular Network devices.
Work alongside WG1 members to author test cases, define pass/fail criteria, and validate test coverage against ratified WG2 specifications.
Execute validated test suites against real device hardware and contribute results to the ODA Device Registry under the ODA testing framework.
Research partners are recognized in ODA publications and test suite documentation for their contributions to the open validation framework.
